Upcoming activities and ways to get involved
We have been busy in the past year. With the help of Gosport Borough Council, we have completed the construction and planting of a parterre, raised bed and labyrinth. There is new seating too, on which you can sit to enjoy these new installations. We were delighted that the Mayor of Gosport joined us to formally open the new garden.
We are also thrilled to announce that we have secured a small grant to develop new interpretive signage and improve visitor information on-site. On a sad note, we planted a cherry tree in memory of Councillor Alan Durrant who died in September 2024. Alan was a past supporter of the Friends.
Our researcher has also uncovered fascinating new historical details about the Bastion’s role in Gosport’s historic defences, which we will be sharing in future newsletters, blogs and events.
